Windowsill of Joy – 17 April

A window for all the workers in the home. The shoppers, the cooks, the cleaners, those that do the washing and those that do the ironing. Please note windows deliberately unwashed to show the value of this work…

I adore the apron of the cook, particularly her legs with all their individual hairs embroidered in.

The shopping circle is a delightful gift from a friend many years ago, I like how it reminds you to go to the library.

The tupperware is a sprinkler for damping ironing, filled with scented herbs, lavender to sweeten the linens and rosemary to remember all those who have and are caring for us.

The cookbooks hold some New Zealand treasures, such as jam made from the skin of passionfruit and from the rind of watermelon. The plate was a Christmas gift this year, luckily not from my partner.

A rainy day today, ideal for staying in and nurturing your environment.

  1. Well said…thank you.
I love the shopping wheel… a blast from the past haberdashery, tobacconist and polish!
