Windowsill of Joy – 16 April

A Dutch window sill this evening. I realise you might be thinking of the recently stolen Van Gogh, but no, not only were we locked down but it is a paint by numbers from the Warehouse. Never done one before, found it hard but good. The mint in the tulip cup is because if you have a mint tea they make it with a handful of fresh mint and serve it with honey, the smell is fabulous.

Did actually go to the Rijks museum but, didn’t go in, just went to the shop… knew we didn’t have the time to do it justice so went to the Banksy exhibition instead, which was eye opening. The most moving experiences in Amsterdam , apart from the Van Gogh’s, was the educational talk before the Anne Frank house tour. Somehow an overview of the forces that brought about the second world war and its human consequences, with out any blame and with compassion. The other was seeing a young couple cycling to work in the rush hour, she reached over and took her partners hand and brought it to her mouth and kissed it before cycling away.

  1. Just lovely. How nice to know you’ve been on some adventures. Instead of looking forward you can look back and enjoy all over again.
